This magical cave-like quarry in the heart of the Alpilles region of Provence attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors, in fact 513,000, to their Michelangelo, Leonardo de Vinci, Raphael: The Giants of the Renaissance.

That exhibition closed early this year on the 3rd January. However, plans are now well under way for the innovative and ambitious project that will bring a multimedia exhibition devoted entirely to Marc Chagall to Les Carrieres de Lumieres in Baux-de-Provence. This new audio-visual show offers audiences the chance to discover the impressive oeuvre of Marc Chagall, an artist of Russian origin who obtained French nationality in 1937.

Chagall: Midsummer Night’s Dreams is a story in twelve parts - Vitebsk, Life, Poetry, Collages, The War, Stained Glass, The Opéra Garnier, Daphnis and Chloé, Mosaics, The Circus, Illustrations and The Bible - presenting Chagall’s creativity in all its diversity, and his multiple sources of inspiration.

The show will feature close-ups of certain works that are housed in the collection of the Musee National Marc Chagall in Nice. The artist was known for his figurative paintings and has been heralded as a pioneer of modern art. Influenced by his upbringing in Belarus and his Jewish religion, his painting are full of vibrant colours and often feature biblical scenes and whimsical images.

This new show will be open from 4th March 2016 until 8th January 2017. Now is your chance to see these fantastic images up close and in the magnificent setting that is Les Carrieres de Lumieres.
