Located not far from Aix centre, this museum and shop explains a little about the history of how this unusual sweet is made.

Calissons are lozenge shaped and made from a fruit paste with a melon flavour, topped with royal icing.

Videos, display cases, sights and smells will tantalise your taste buds on a visit here and you can also make your own batch of sweets at the end of your visit.

"The museum is actually very informative, even though, as mentioned by another reviewer, the English version of the video presentation was not working (February 2016). It took me a while to figure out how to do the interactive calisson production game, but it was worthwhile because I got to taste my first calisson ever when I finally succeeded. The shop is well appointed and has some really nice products to bring back to mystify and/or delight people who have never heard of calissons.
