Great Roman Games, Nimes

Performances, reenactments & entertainments in the Nimes Arena

featured in Events calendar Updated

Cancelled in 2020.

This year's theme, marking the 11th anniversary of the games, is 'Caesar, the Conquest of Rome'. 500 reenactors from France, Italy, Croatia and Germany converge on the Amphitheatre of Nîmes, an exceptional venue, to participate in the Great Roman Games, a unique event that has become the biggest historical reenactment of ancient history in Europe.

Over the three-day period, the reenactment in the Amphitheatre will bring to life the legendary 'ludi' (public games) as the inhabitants of Nîmes would have experienced them 2000 years ago: the imperial court, a procession of Roman legionnaires, chariot racing, and gladiatorial combats. This edition is focusing on Caesar and the conquest of Rome.

Ticket prices start at €15 with reduced rates for students and children.
