Correns
Centre of organic farming in the south of Provence
Famous for being a 'Bio Village', Correns claims that 95% of the wines and local produce are farmed organically.
Correns lies on the Argens river and is blessed with rich green countryside, which is due to a system of underground water channels that irrigates the land above.
The village is very small and there is not much to see. There is an old fort (built in the 12th century with subsequent modifications), Fort Gibron right in the centre and you can take a pleasant wander through the little streets and stop off at the café for a quiet drink. There are 17 fountains and two wash basins which are regularly restored and maintained.
