The 15th century castle was built as a defence stronghold due to its position at the end of the River Rhone.
It's history includes being used as a prison in the 17th & 18th centuries, during which time it's original glamour and elegance were sadly lost. In 1932 the castle was ear-marked for restoration and it now boasts an ornate inner courtyard and beautifully decorated interiors. It also has a fine collection of 17th century tapestries.
